Literal Meaning

Tooth · Triple Flame · Fire

Archetype

The Aeon (Judgement) · Fire / Spirit

Path Summary

The 31st path. Hod to Malkuth. Fire / Spirit.

The Station

Shin is the tooth and the fire. The letter has three flames rising — the triple tongue of the spirit. One of the three Mother Letters (with Aleph and Mem). The Aeon (or Judgement) card sits on this path because it is the letter of the trumpet, the calling-up, the turning of the age.

In the Lilith Current

Shin is the consummating letter. Where Mem is the water of dedication, Shin is the fire of consecration that follows. The triple flame names the three reflections of the Mirror Doctrine — Father, Barbelo, Lilith — co-burning in the priesthood's central rite. Shin is the chapter on the operative fire and on the difference between fire that warms and fire that burns the practitioner up.

Working Note

Shin is never invoked alone. It needs Cheth as fence and Mem as ground. Then the triple flame can rise without consuming.
