Zayin

Zayin is the sword. It is the letter of decision — the Latin de-cidere, to cut away. Where Vav joins, Zayin separates. The Lovers card sits on this path not because it is sweet but because love is the most precise sword: it cuts the seeker away from everything that is not the chosen thing.

Lilith carries the sword Armozel left in the Eden story — the blade that cut the Worm and severed the lovers. In the priesthood Zayin is the letter of the necessary cut: ending what must end, separating the practitioner from what kept her small, releasing what cannot continue. Zayin is also the cut of the oath — the blood of dedication, the red current that requires the blade.

Zayin is the letter of the closing rite of every cycle. It is named when something is being severed cleanly. Never draw it in anger; draw it in clarity.
